The Best of Asian Cuisine Around Pittsburgh: My Food for Thought | Student Perspectives
Growing up in a foodie family and being half Filipino, I’ve had my fair share of mouthwatering food. Ever since I was little, I’ve traveled internationally with my family to places as far as the Philippines and Japan. Although I initially had a picky eater mindset with a steadfast obsession of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese as a child (to my parents’ dismay), my palate eventually expanded with my eagerness to explore new cuisines and my desire to experience new flavors. My love for Asian cuisine grew as I learned to embrace my Filipino heritage, traveled to more places, and grew to appreciate different cultures.
For these reasons, Asian cuisine has a special place in my heart (and in my belly). All around Pittsburgh, I’ve discovered Asian restaurants that leave me feeling equally satiated and enthusiastic to come back for more! As a current senior student at the University of Pittsburgh, I really enjoy finding places that aren’t too far from campus that satisfy my craving for a tasty and filling meal. Here are my favorite delicious go-to Asian small businesses that I love to support and frequently revisit:

In expanding my flavor palate, I also grew to love a popular drink that now serves as my essential weekly pick-me-up. Bubble tea, a cold Asian drink consisting of either milk or fruit tea combined with chewy tapioca pearls, is a delicacy that I have tried time and time again. If this sounds appetizing, be sure to check out my bubble tea ratings below to try out a refreshing drink that best suits your preferences!
