BOOM Concepts’ Unblurred Takeover
BOOM is kicking off its event season with a special Unblurred Takeover!
For the past decade, BOOM Concepts has been a hub for the Pittsburgh community, helping expand activity for artists, musicians and entrepreneurs who share a common interest.
Now, BOOM is going bigger than ever with a stellar lineup of programming that infuses life into the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, starting with their Unblurred Takeover.
When & Where
BOOM Concepts’ Unblurred Takeover will take place throughout the Penn Ave. Arts & Commercial District on April 5, 2024, starting at 5 p.m.
During the Takeover, BOOM Concepts will host special on-site programming and curate multiple exhibitions. Artists that will be featured as exhibitors and participants include Charlese Dawson, Ivory Eddins, Jameelah Platt, Evangeline Mensah-Agyekum, DS Kinsel, Adam “FRH” Golden, Princess Jafar and more! This is just one event of a packed year-long calendar of the arts as BOOM realizes a major fundraising campaign to help fund a forever home and even more programming.
If you're never been to Unblurred before, get ready. This event (happening every first Friday of the month) has turned Penn Ave. into one of the city's most happening places to be as creative energy from photographers, dancers, painters, sculptors, musicians and more pour out into the street with fantastic support from local businesses along the 4800-5500 blocks.
Meet the Artists
There's a ton of great art to see at BOOM Concepts’ Unblurred Takeover, but I thought I'd spotlight two artists to give you a quick preview of what you might expect, both of whom were Boom Universe Resident Artists in 2023.
Evangeline Mensah-Agyekum's work is in a self-described hybrid genre that emerges from her self-taught skills as a photographer and artist combined with her engineering background as she explores the mundanity of every day life. Take a peek at her website for an amazing look at her photography, experimental short film and tech-infused work.
Ivory Eddins' journey is the kind of success story that always deserves the spotlight. After finding her passion for art at a local community college, Eddins was able to channel her talent directly onto her canvas. Her art is now a fixture at galleries throughout the region, and her custom crochet work is nothing short of incredible.
Admission & Accessibility
With free admission, you can enjoy a large variety of exhibitions, art activations, food vendors, youth activities and more throughout the Garfield neighborhood.
