Pittsburgh International Airport
The gateway to Western Pennsylvania opens a world of possibilities
In 2022, J.D. Power rated the customer experience at Pittsburgh International Airport one of the best in the U.S., the latest high-profile accolade the airport has received, following nods in recent years from Fast Company, Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast and numerous industry groups.
Pittsburgh International features an impressive mix of international brand stores and locally renowned products, giving travelers a strong sense of Western Pennsylvania culture while offering shopping and dining options that are beloved around the world.
As the “front door” to a region that has developed a world-class technology sector, Pittsburgh International has embraced innovation in its terminals, partnering with companies on the cutting edge of their industries. From plant-powered air filtration to robots that deliver food to gates, the airport is constantly looking to reinvent and upgrade the passenger experience while investing in the growth of its community.
The airport is also a pioneer in sustainability. A first-of-its-kind microgrid fueled by natural gas and solar panels gives the facility all the electricity it needs - and a blueprint for our entire industry.
Add in an award-winning arts and culture program and ever-growing air service options, and it’s clear that Pittsburgh International Airport is the premier gateway to Western Pennsylvania.

Ground broke on the new 700,000-square-foot terminal in Oct. 2021, with an anticipated opening date of 2025. Key design features include large outdoor terraces and touchless processes. Operations including ticketing, baggage handling, security, ground transportation and concessions will be consolidated and streamlined for a post-pandemic world. And the region’s commitment to sustainability will be evident throughout the construction and operation of the new terminal, with an aim to comply with LEED® Silver certification.
