Verona: Neighborhood Guide

The second installment of a collection of the suburbs just minutes northeast of the city

Just twenty minutes from Downtown, Verona offers small town vibes yet still has plenty to explore, from house-smoked barbeque and authentic, home-style Italian to craft breweries, shops and more. Whether you’re headed to Oakmont or looking for something to do after a visit to the zoo, you’re bound to be surprised by what this neighborly town has in store.

Inner Groove

Built on the dreams of two husband-and-wife duos, Inner Groove offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere where you can kick back with friends and enjoy a cold brew. They always have at least a dozen rotating drafts on tap to choose from, including Hazy IPAs, Lagers – and my personal favorite, Kettle Sours.

Plus, they host rotating food trucks daily and events, like Thursday trivia nights.

Cellar Works

Within walking distance from Inner Groove, you can taste small batch, handcrafted beer made from locally-sourced ingredients at Cellar Works Brewing Co.’s taproom. They offer an array of diverse options including European lagers, hoppy American ales, and Belgian style and sour ales.

Acclamation Brewing

A bit further off the beaten path, Acclamation Brewing specializes in full flavored sessionable beers. The nano-brewery offers a quaint yet lively locations, and it shares a parking lot with Verona Village Inn, making for the perfect place to hangout while you wait for a table to open up.

Mechanic Coffee Company

Not quite 5 o’clock somewhere yet? Mechanic Coffee Company is a beautiful café serving great coffee, whether you’re looking to grab a cup on the go, for a place to meet for a coffee date or a change of scenery from your work-from-home setup.

Off the Rail BBQ

If you love barbeque, you have to stop by Off the Rail BBQ. They serve up low-and-slow smoked meat cooked to perfection, delicious mac and cheese, vinegar coleslaw and more. Plus, the place is particularly lively on the weekends thanks to a lineup of live music performances!

Verona Village Inn

One of Verona’s best kept secrets, the Verona Village Inn has offered authentic, home-style Italian dining since 1983. They have extensive lunch and dinner menus, including family style meals that can be ordered to go.

Hula Bar & Grill

Hula Bar & Grill offers an eclectic dining experience paired with great food. They’re known for a great happy hour and some of the best wings in the area. Plus, it’s just steps away from Inner Groove and Cellar Works!

Found is a stylist-run consignment shop that supports sustainability and inclusivity by providing expert guidance that cultivates confidence and authenticity. Formerly known as Shift, they’ve created an in-person one-stop-shop for women, where anyone can benefit from a stylist-guided shopping experience.

Riverbank Park

Grab a cup of coffee from Mechanic Coffee Company and head to Riverbank Park to take in beautiful views of the Allegheny River. In addition to a playground and basketball court, there are four state-of-the-art pickleball courts open to the public.
