Feel the excitement of Highmark First Night in Pittsburgh! Celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Cultural District and be a part of Downtown Pittsburgh’s favorite holiday bash.
At Highmark First Night Pittsburgh, you can explore the Cultural District like never before. Gather your friends and family and enjoy free art and entertainment in the many theaters, galleries and one-of-a-kind spaces. This year’s celebration will feature outdoor stages, public art installations, visual arts galleries, a New Year's Eve Parade and, of course, fireworks!

2024 Highlights
First Night 2024 will dazzle with Firetree Project, a towering 24' interactive art installation of steel, flames and whimsy. Look for this installation at the Backyard at 8th & Penn.
Other must-sees include Dollar Bank Children's Fireworks which start at 6 p.m. in front of the Benedum Center, the grand reopening of the Clemente Bridge at 8:45 p.m. and "The Goddaughter of Soul" Lyndsey Smith bringing her powerhouse vocals from 10:45-11:59 p.m. on the Highmark Stage.
Family-Friendly Fun
The 14-block radius of the city's Cultural District transforms into an incredible kid-friendly celebration during Highmark First Night Pittsburgh! Kicking off the evening at 6 p.m. is the Dollar Bank Children's Fireworks. Other kid-friendly activities include an arts parade led by giant puppets and art cars, face painting and making a LEGO firework at the Byham Theater, and a Family Zone for stilt-walking, juggling, make-your-own buttons and more Holiday Block Party fun.
Live Music & Performances
Outdoor and indoor programs and performances abound at First Night. Stage locations will be set up throughout the Cultural District with free performances, including:
- Backyard @ 8th & Penn, hear the finalists of the PRIME SING-OFF competition at 7 p.m. and School of Rock at 7:30 p.m.
- Highmark Stage, opening performance of the PRIME SING-OFF winner at 6:05 p.m., Zuzu African Acrobats at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., Flow Band at 8:30 p.m. and Lyndsey Smith from 10:45 p.m.-midnight
- Greer Cabaret Theater, Dwayne Dolphin puts on two jazz shows at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
- Trust Arts Education Center, Alumni Theater Company performs original music and poetry at 7:15, 9:15 and 10:45 p.m.
More Arts & Entertainment
Take a tour of the Byham Theater and Benedum Center, watch classic Laurel and Hardy shorts at the Harris Theater and marvel at up-close magic from Mr. Messado and Ran'D Shine. A wide variety of art will also be on display including Graffiti Walls including live painting at Trust Oasis, public art installations throughout the Cultural District and indoor shows Crest of the Ridge at 707 Gallery and the #notwhite Collective 2016-022 at SPACE, among others
