Excitement Builds as Pittsburgh Hosts the 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship
More than 10,000 attendees expected over the course of the event
PITTSBURGH – VisitPITTSBURGH, along with the United States Golf Association (USGA), is proud to announce the kickoff of the highly anticipated 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, set to attract golf enthusiasts and visitors alike from August 1-4, 2024.
As one of the nation’s premier golfing destinations, Pittsburgh is honored to host this renowned championship of 120 female professional and amateur golfers, ages 50+, showcasing our world-class facilities, championship golf and warm hospitality. The Championship is set for Fox Chapel Golf Club, known for its combination of open fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and challenging putting surfaces that promise to test the skills of these top senior women’s golfers from across the world.

More than 10,000 attendees are expected over the course of the week, and the Championship is estimated to drive $2 million in direct visitor spending.
The event marks the first U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship in Pittsburgh and fourth USGA championship hosted at Fox Chapel Golf Club.

The event is set to welcome the return of seven-time USGA champion Carol Semple Thompson, 75, of Sewickley, Pa. Thompson, who made history at Fox Chapel in the 2002 Curtis Cup Match, has received a special exemption to participate in this year’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship. The field also boasts World Golf Hall of Famers like Annika Sorenstam, Juli Inkster and Laura Davies.
